Visiting with the Climate Corps at Eastie Farm

Andrew and the Climate Corps at Eastie Farm.
December 23, 2024

Andrew Iliff, our Director of Policy, visited East Boston’s Eastie Farm on November 6 to speak with the Climate Corps youth fellows who were completing a yearlong program. Eastie Farm brings community members together around food, farming, and fellowship. The farm is based at the awesome, first-of-its-kind, geothermal-heated greenhouse, making it an ideal setting to learn about HEET’s work on the gas to geo pathway.

Andrew was excited to meet the Climate Corps group and answer their thoughtful questions about geothermal heating and cooling: How can we make sure that geothermal boreholes don’t change the temperature of the soil in a way that will disturb trees and other plants? How can we deliver geothermal heating and cooling in neighborhoods where residents struggle to mobilize the resources to update their homes? HEET is excited to see what these community-minded young people will accomplish in the future!
