At HEET, we’re all about systems change–and direct carbon-cutting steps are an important part of that process. HEET’s Jason Taylor is here to share some of his extensive knowledge on energy efficiency and simple steps you can take right now to cut carbon emissions at home.

Jason:

My devotion to cutting gas has been called excessive by some who have not connected the dots between bad gas and climate change. But I am determined to cut carbon in some way every day. Less CO2, less climate change.

As one of the founding members of HEET, I have been collecting ways of cutting carbon for the last 15 years.

Today we look at conservation. This is so easy. All you have to do is turn something off–-the lights, an appliance, anything. But did you know you can make an even bigger difference if you shut something off between 4pm and 10pm? Those hours are the peak hours when the grid has the greatest demand and needs to fire up more electricity. Shut something off later in the day and you have made even less bad gas!
